Notes for Teachers

This pack provides material for a classroom study, targeted for use within the Key Stages 3 and 4 syllabus requirements.

The material provided enables a comparison to be made of data and trends in wildlife habitats on two adjacent open spaces with similar microclimates but managed differently.

The locations and data are hypothetical, but based upon data collected from real locations.

You may find it easier to use the data and class questions exactly as provided.

Alternatively, you may wish to compile your own questions, or invite the pupils to suggest their own.

As a further exercise, there may be similar sites in your locality, whose owners may be able to offer the facility of site visits for the purpose of a supervised field exercise to collect data representative of the area familiar to your pupils.
